We are seeking to hire experienced Snowflake Engineer(s) in the Snowflake Transformation & Growth team, which is a centre of excellence in Deloitte's Engineering, AI & Data service offering. You will be working with clients and other third parties, as well as Deloitte teams from across the Firm. You will have the opportunity to work with a huge variety of interesting, international, and world-leading clients who are navigating an evolving marketplace where the Data Cloud is taking engineering to a new level. This role offers the opportunity to deliver high-impact transformation programmes, including integrations and legacy data migrations, while developing your Snowflake expertise and working alongside experienced multidisciplinary teams. You will have a degree of technical knowledge, as well as the ability to communicate to business users.

You will combine strong Snowflake data engineering capability with practical experience in enabling analytics and AI-ready data products, translating business and technical requirements into robust, scalable solutions that create trusted data foundations and measurable business value.

Your role

As a Snowflake Engineer, you will solve our clients’ most challenging business problems by applying advanced data engineering techniques to design, deliver and operate robust and cutting-edge solutions. In this role, you may be expected to:

·       Stakeholder engagement: Lead discussions with technical stakeholders and leadership teams to define and deliver data pipelines aligned with architecture.

·       Data models: Develop and implement physical data models covering data acquisition, preprocessing, ETL/ELT integrations and deployment.

·       Data migration: Plan and oversee migration activities for legacy on-premise systems, ensuring scale, efficiency, reliability and clear management of delivery risks. 

·       Technology assessment: Evaluate Snowflake technologies and integrate relevant changes into client solutions and internal frameworks. 

·       Delivery practices: Lead knowledge sharing, reusable code, technical reviews and CI/CD practices across sprint teams. 

·       Design, build, test and deploy scalable batch and near-real-time data pipelines, reusable data products and analytics solutions on Snowflake using SQL, Python, Snowpark, Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks and Dynamic Tables. 

·       Lead delivery across the full data engineering lifecycle, from requirements analysis and solution design through development, testing, deployment, operational readiness and continuous improvement. 

·       Lead client and stakeholder discussions to understand business, data and technical requirements, facilitate design workshops and recommend practical solution options. 

·       Communicate solution choices, trade-offs, dependencies and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences. 

·       Design and implement robust data models and ETL/ELT patterns that support enterprise reporting, analytics, machine learning and AI use cases. 

·       Oversee optimisation of pipelines and Snowflake workloads for performance, reliability, scalability and cost, identifying engineering risks and guiding appropriate mitigations. 

·       Embed security, role-based access control, governance, lineage and data quality into solutions, using Snowflake capabilities such as masking policies, secure data sharing, account usage views and governance controls. 

·       Enable analytics, machine learning and AI solutions by preparing trusted, governed and reusable datasets and integrating data products with downstream applications. 

·       Apply modern engineering practices including version control, automated testing, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, monitoring and data observability. 

·       Produce and maintain high-quality technical artefacts including solution designs, data models, interface specifications, deployment documentation and operational runbooks. 

·       Lead and guide engineers through technical reviews, reusable engineering standards, coaching and quality assurance across delivery teams.

Overall, you are a curious and hands-on problem solver who enjoys collaborating to solve complex data challenges. You bring a pragmatic approach to delivering high-quality solutions and can explain technical decisions clearly to different audiences.

Education & Experience

·       Bachelor’s degree in a technical or quantitative field, or equivalent experience.

·       Experience leading engineering workstreams and delivering enterprise data solutions in production environments.

·       Experience delivering data programmes in regulated or data-rich industries.

·       SnowPro Core certification is mandatory.

·       Experience working directly with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and communicate solution approaches.

·       Strong analytical, problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Technical proficiency

·       Experience leading engineering workstreams for the development and deployment of production cloud data warehouses using Snowflake and AWS, Azure or GCP.

·       Proficiency in SQL, Python, data stack frameworks, integration libraries and orchestration tools, including Snowpark, Snowpipe, Streams, Tasks and Dynamic Tables.

·       Knowledge of Snowflake architecture, stages, file formats, virtual warehouse configuration, secure data sharing, role-based access control, Time Travel, cloning and replication.

·       Experience with query optimisation, query profiles, clustering, warehouse configuration, resource monitors and account usage views.

·       Experience with CI/CD, version control, infrastructure as code, automated testing and coding guardrails.

·       Ability to explain technical concepts to different audiences.

·       Ability to build solutions using Snowflake Cortex Code.

·       Strong understanding of data modelling principles for analytics, reporting, machine learning and AI use cases.

·       Experience applying modern engineering practices, including automated testing, infrastructure as code, monitoring and data observability.

·       Knowledge of cloud-native security, governance and access management practices across Snowflake and the relevant cloud platform.

·       Experience enabling AI-ready workloads using governed Snowflake data products and relevant Snowflake AI capabilities, where appropriate to the solution.

·       Experience with orchestration technologies and cloud integration services.

·       Exposure to DevOps (or similar tools), platform automation and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
