AI Engineer

About Intergrid

Intergrid is a Helsinki-based technology company offering an Autopilot for industrial energy operators.

Economics, emissions and resilience are pushing industrials to adopt hybrid energy systems that can't be effectively run manually with traditional tooling. More intelligent, integrated and autonomous energy operations are needed to lower costs and emissions, reduce manual operator workload and accelerate the whole energy transition by making industrial electrification easier and more economical.

Intergrid has emerged as the category leader in autonomous industrial energy operations, with:

• 100+ industrial sites across Europe already trusting us

• €20M+ raised from top investors in Finland and Silicon Valley

• A high-performing 40+ person team from different nationalities and backgrounds at our vibrant Helsinki office

We’re an office-first team that values active collaboration and getting to know one another beyond our Zoom profiles. We’d love to see you at our office in Helsinki as often as possible, while recognizing that we all appreciate the option to work remotely from time to time.

About the role

We're hiring a full-time AI Engineer to join our fast-growing team in Helsinki.

We already serve 100+ industrial sites today, and AI is an everyday part of how we work. However, to allow maximal scalability, we want to take it to the next level. This requires going beyond individual productivity tools and agents towards robust, auditable AI-based systems that raise efficiency and quality across the whole company.

As our first cross-functional AI Engineer, you'll report to our CTO, work with every team in engineering, operations and commercial, and fundamentally shape how we run as a company. Over time, the role can grow towards a senior expert role or closer to our product and software development team.

Key responsibilities

• Help teams get most of AI: Support teams in mapping and prioritizing areas where automation and AI can deliver most impact.

• Ship robust AI workflows that run without you: Create software that automates our most critical processes across operations, engineering, and commercial.

• Raise company-wide quality of AI: Contribute to best practices on how to utilize AI effectively and safely, while keeping the team up to date on AI development that matters most to us.

• Measure the impact: Measure real outcomes, such as time saved, fewer errors and how we scale customer sites per person, not just adoption.

Who we are looking for

• AI-native builder: You have shipped automated AI-based workflows and systems that people and decisions depend on.

• Pragmatic problem solver: You quickly understand how a system works, spot where AI can make the biggest difference, and propose solutions that work in practice.

• High-agency: You take ownership, work independently, and ship and iterate fast.

• Technically capable: You're comfortable with Python, SQL, data analysis, and working with APIs and integrations.

• Curious learner: You follow AI developments closely and keep improving both yourself and the way we work.

• Clear communicator: You work well with people from different backgrounds, and you communicate clearly in English.

We also value if you have

• Experience from a fast-growing startup or scale-up environment.

• Project management experience and the ability to drive initiatives across several teams.

• Interest in energy, power markets or industrial operations.

What we offer

• Values-driven culture: Be part of a culture built on kindness, curiosity, and creating win-win-win outcomes for customers, planet, and our success.

• Build with AI where it matters: Energy keeps everything, including AI, running. It’s also one of the slowest adopters of new technologies due to legacy systems and strict security requirements.

• Competitive salary & stock options: Reflecting your experience and commitment to our shared success.

• Real ownership and impact: A company-wide mandate and impact you can see across the whole organisation.

• Fast-track your career: Take on meaningful responsibilities within days, not months. Top talents advance quickly when Intergrid is growing this fast.

• Thrive in our Helsinki HQ: Vibrant, supportive, and inclusive office-first environment.
