As we continue to grow, we're looking for an AI & Automation Developer who is passionate about building innovative technology solutions, improving business processes, and using AI to make businesses smarter and more efficient.

About the Role

We're looking for a hands-on developer and problem solver who can take an idea and turn it into a working solution. As our AI & Automation Developer, you'll work directly with company leadership to identify opportunities for automation, develop AI-powered tools, and build integrations that improve how our team operates and serves clients.

This is a hands-on development role. You'll be responsible for taking projects from concept through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance. Some solutions may involve existing AI and automation platforms, while others will require custom code, APIs, or software integrations. We're looking for someone who is resourceful, technically capable, and excited to learn new technologies.

You'll also contribute to our longer-term vision of developing intelligent financial workflows and scalable software solutions. We're not looking for someone who simply uses AI tools. We're looking for someone who can build with them.

What You'll Do

AI Development & Automation

• Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain AI-powered tools and automated workflows.
• Write custom code, scripts, and integrations to connect business applications and streamline processes.
• Develop solutions using AI models, APIs, automation platforms, and other technologies.
• Build workflows that automate repetitive tasks, process information, and improve operational efficiency.
• Research and evaluate emerging AI technologies to identify practical business applications.
• Troubleshoot, improve, and maintain existing automations to ensure long-term reliability.
• Develop flexible, maintainable solutions that are not dependent on a single AI platform or vendor.

Accounting & Financial Process Automation

Partner with our accounting and operations teams to develop solutions such as:

• Automating QuickBooks Online transaction matching and identifying discrepancies.
• Creating workflows that flag unusual transactions and route exceptions for human review.
• Automating the preparation and organization of month-end close workpapers.
• Streamlining financial data collection, reconciliation support, and recurring reporting.
• Connecting accounting platforms with internal task management and reporting systems.
• Reducing manual data entry while improving accuracy and consistency.

Operational Automation & Systems Integration

• Develop integrations that keep client requests, task statuses, and follow-ups current in ClickUp.
• Automate recurring administrative tasks, client onboarding activities, and internal handoffs.
• Build tools that consolidate information across multiple software applications.
• Collaborate with leadership and team members to identify inefficiencies and develop practical solutions.
• Support the development of internal AI assistants and other productivity tools.

Security, Testing & Maintenance

• Build solutions that protect confidential financial and client information.
• Implement appropriate access controls, permissions, and separation of client data.
• Test and validate automations before deployment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
• Incorporate appropriate human review into financial workflows and AI-generated outputs.
• Monitor automations for errors, failures, and unexpected results.
• Document code, integrations, workflows, and maintenance procedures.
• Ensure solutions can be supported, updated, and improved as the company grows.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

• 1+ years of hands-on experience developing software, AI-powered solutions, business automations, or systems integrations.
• Experience writing code or scripts to develop functional technical solutions.
• Familiarity with APIs, webhooks, and connecting multiple software platforms.
• Practical experience working with AI technologies or large language models.
• Demonstrated ability to build, test, troubleshoot, and maintain working automations or applications.
• Understanding of data security, access controls, testing, and responsible handling of confidential information.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to translate business needs into functional technical solutions.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with nontechnical team members.
• Self-motivated, resourceful, and comfortable researching and learning new technologies.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python, JavaScript, SQL, or similar programming languages.
• Experience with AI APIs, AI agents, prompt engineering, or retrieval-based applications.
• Familiarity with automation platforms such as n8n, Make, Zapier, or Microsoft Power Automate.
• Experience integrating QuickBooks Online or other accounting and financial systems.
• Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Power BI, ClickUp, or other business operations platforms.
• Understanding of accounting processes, financial reporting, reconciliations, or month-end close.
• Experience building applications or integrations that handle sensitive business information.

What Success Looks Like in Your First 90 Days

First 30 Days: Learn & Identify

• Become familiar with our core systems, workflows, and business processes.
• Work with leadership to identify high-impact automation opportunities.
• Evaluate technical requirements, security considerations, and potential solutions.
• Prioritize one or two initial development projects.

Days 31–60: Build & Test

• Develop initial automations addressing identified business needs.
• Test functionality, accuracy, security, and reliability.
• Collaborate with team members to validate results and make improvements.
• Prepare solutions for implementation.

Days 61–90: Implement & Improve

• Deliver one or two reliable automations into day-to-day operations.
• Document how each solution works and how it should be maintained.
• Establish monitoring and appropriate human review procedures.
• Demonstrate measurable improvements, such as time saved, reduced errors, or fewer manual steps.
• Identify opportunities for continued development and improvement.
