Description
WBG Pioneers, the World Bank Group’s Internship Program, offers undergraduate and postgraduate students a high impact learning experience at the heart of global development. Participants gain hands on experience in a diverse and dynamic environment, contribute fresh perspectives and innovative ideas, and connect with international professionals working to end poverty on a livable planet.
- Collect data from databases, APIs, cloud storage, files, and other sources.
- Clean and transform raw data by handling missing values, duplicates, incorrect formats, and outliers, and build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Python, SQL, and data-engineering tools.
- Perform data validation and quality checks to ensure accuracy and consistency.
- Work with large datasets using platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, Spark, or cloud services.
- Create and maintain data tables, schemas, feature datasets, and data documentation.
- Assist with feature engineering for machine-learning models.
- Support vector databases, embeddings, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation pipelines for generative AI applications.
- Collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, ML engineers, and software developers.
- Participate in code reviews, team meetings, testing, and technical documentation.
Selection Criteria
- Candidates must be currently enrolled in, or in the final year of, an undergraduate or postgraduate (master’s/PhD) program IT Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, and Data Science/Analytics.
- Candidates must have 1–6 years of relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated interest in development work and the World Bank Group’s mission.
- Strong analytical, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in English; additional languages may be required depending on the role.
- Technical Skills Needed: Python, SQL, Git, databases, ETL/ELT concepts, APIs, cloud platforms, basic machine learning, and data visualization.
- Professional Skills Needed: Problem-solving, communication, teamwork, attention to detail, willingness to learn, and the ability to clearly document work.
