• 1-year max term fulltime contract
• Option to be based in South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia or NSW

Reporting to the Information & Digital team, you'll play a key role in establishing and scaling BaptistCare's emerging AI capability. Working closely with the newly established AI Dev Group, you'll design, build and deploy AI-powered solutions that deliver measurable business outcomes, enhance customer and employee experiences, and support BaptistCare's AI journey.

This role is responsible for delivering end-to-end AI solutions, including Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG), intelligent automation and AI-driven applications. You'll partner with Architecture, Data & Analytics, Cyber Security, Applications, Innovation and business stakeholders to bring practical AI solutions into production and embed them into day-to-day operations.

 

About the Role

 

• Design, build and deploy AI-powered applications and solutions leveraging Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and intelligent automation technologies.
• Develop and optimise AI capabilities that enhance service delivery, workforce productivity and operational efficiency across the organisation.
• Create conversational AI experiences and intelligent assistants embedded within business and operational workflows.
• Translate business challenges into practical, scalable AI solutions that deliver measurable value and improved outcomes.
• Partner with Delivery, Innovation, Architecture, Data & Analytics and Applications teams to deliver end-to-end AI solutions from concept through to production.
• Apply Responsible AI principles and develop secure, scalable and production-ready AI solutions aligned to enterprise architecture, governance and security standards.
• Monitor, evaluate and continuously improve AI solution performance, operational costs, accuracy, reliability, user adoption and business impact.
• Contribute to the growth of BaptistCare's enterprise AI capability through innovation, knowledge sharing, engineering standards and continuous improvement.

 

About You

 

You're a curious, innovative and outcomes-focused technology professional who is passionate about the potential of AI to solve real-world problems. You enjoy working across business and technology teams, turning ideas into impactful solutions that drive meaningful change.

You'll bring:

• Relevant tertiary qualifications in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or a related discipline.
• 3-5+ years' experience in software engineering, AI development, machine learning, data engineering or a related technical field.
• Demonstrated experience designing, building and deploying AI solutions within production environments.

• Experience with RAG architectures, vector databases, embeddings and semantic search technologies.

• Strong programming skills in Python, JavaScript or other modern development languages.
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS or Google Cloud.
• Exposure to Generative AI, Large Language Models (LLMs), AI automation, machine learning or related technologies.
• Knowledge of APIs, modern application architecture and integration practices.
• Understanding of DevOps, CI/CD pipelines and modern software engineering methodologies.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder engagement capabilities.
• The ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• A collaborative mindset with a passion for innovation, continuous learning and delivering business value through technology.
