Who You Are:
The Senior AI Developer is a hands-on engineering role responsible for designing, building, and deploying artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions that support Extensis HR's transformation agenda. Working within the AI & Transformation team, this individual will develop AI-powered features, automation workflows, and data-driven applications that improve operational efficiency and enhance the client and employee experience. The Senior AI Developer will collaborate closely with product, data, and business teams to deliver production-quality AI solutions – writing clean, maintainable code and contributing to best practices across the engineering organization.

- Design, develop, test, and deploy AI/ML models and applications including NLP pipelines, predictive models, recommendation engines, and intelligent automation workflows.
- Build and integrate large language model (LLM) powered features using APIs such as OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, or Anthropic; implement retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) patterns and AI agent workflows.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines that support model training, fine-tuning, evaluation, and real-time or batch inference.
- Integrate AI solutions into existing enterprise platforms and APIs, ensuring reliable, secure, and performant deployment.
- Write well-structured, tested, and documented code in Python; participate in peer code reviews and contribute to engineering standards.
- Collaborate with business analysts and stakeholders to translate requirements into AI use cases; participate in Agile sprint ceremonies.
- Monitor deployed models and pipelines in production; diagnose performance issues and implement improvements.
- Conduct research and rapid prototyping to evaluate new AI frameworks, tools, and techniques for applicability to business problems.
- Support the documentation of AI solution designs, data flows, API contracts, and operational runbooks.
- Contribute to a responsible AI culture by following established guidelines around model fairness, data privacy, and explainability.
- Performs additional responsibilities as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department and the organization.
AI Utilization and Literacy:
- A key function of this role includes the effective use and understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) tools and technologies to enhance productivity, decision-making, and overall performance. This position is expected to maintain awareness of emerging AI applications relevant to their responsibilities, apply AI tools ethically and effectively, and continuously develop their AI proficiency.
What You Bring:
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field is preferred but not required.
- 4+ years of software development experience, with at least 2 years focused on applied AI/ML engineering.
- Strong proficiency in Python and experience with ML libraries such as Scikit-learn, PyTorch, TensorFlow, or HuggingFace Transformers.
- Hands-on experience working with LLM APIs (OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar) and prompt engineering techniques.
- Experience building RAG pipelines, vector search integrations (e.g., Pinecone, pgvector, Weaviate), or AI agent frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, or equivalent).
- Familiarity with cloud AI/ML services on Azure, AWS, or GCP (e.g., Azure Machine Learning, SageMaker, or Vertex AI).
- Working knowledge of RESTful API development, containerization (Docker), and CI/CD pipelines.
- Solid understanding of data fundamentals including SQL, data wrangling, and feature engineering.
- Experience in HR technology, PEO, or regulated industries is a plus.
- Relevant certifications (AWS Machine Learning, Azure AI Engineer, Google ML Engineer) are a plus.
